The first prototype of ALTYS and THALES Avionics‘ jointly developped HCATM Airborne Gateway was succesfully integrated with both Airbus’ ATSU and ARINC 741 DATA 2 radio. Thanks to the unvaluable support of Airbus engineers in charge, a CM Logon and ACARS messages were successfully exchanged air-ground through Inmarsat’s SATCOM chain and SITA ground infrastructure (picture). ALTYS is proud to have contributed to this major milestone towards flight tests scheduled early 2025.

FCDI, a R&D project granted by SESAR Joint Undertaking and co-funded by the European Union, is executed by a Corsortium of 21 key industry partners. Launched July 203 and ending June 2026, the project is developing the future Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) technologies to support and manage operational services of future ATM systems.

Hyper-Connected ATM (HCATM) paves the way for the use of public air-ground links and networks as a complement to legacy safety links, to support safety and regularity of flights related air-ground communications. The Hyper Connected ATM concept leverages state of the art “at hand” commercial radio infrastructure whilst augmenting end-to-end cockpit communications’ general performance.
